Meet Mrs. Morales,
a New English Learner (EL) Teacher

Hi! I recently started a new career as a teacher, and I care immensely about the English learners (ELs) I serve—that’s why I’m here! My goal is to help my ELs achieve academic success and fluency, yet it’s a lot harder than I expected. While I love opportunities to collaborate with other teachers at my school, finding time to schedule meetings can be tricky; as a result, I’m often left on my own to learn new strategies. Can you provide me with any support?

Click on any of Mrs. Morales’ pain points to see how Ballard & Tighe’s English language development (ELD) curricula and assessments can help her. Don’t miss out on the free materials, lessons, and how-to videos!

Don’t stress, Mrs. Morales.

Explore Carousel of IDEAS (K–5) & Champion of IDEAS (6–12)

Take a look at these videos to see how lessons from Carousel of IDEAS and Champion of IDEAS, although scripted for specific proficiency levels, can be scaffolded up or down for a multi-level group of students

Within the flow of activities for vocabulary, grammatical forms, and functions of language, you can dive deeper into different areas depending on the levels of ELs you’re working with. While listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills are integrated, the lessons are flexible enough for scaffolding to meet ELs of all levels.
