Arizona’s SEI funding provides one-time funding to school districts to purchase ELD materials for English Learners grades K-6.

Arizona’s ELL Task Force created Structured English Immersion Models. Beginning in the 2008 – 2009 school year, first year ELL students will have a minimum of four hours of ELD based on ELP standards (Oral English and Conversation, Vocabulary, Reading, Writing, and Grammar). The SEI classes will be taught in English and students will be grouped based on language ability. The goal of SEI is to lead students to proficiency in English in one year.
