Purpose

  • To evaluate the reading and writing skills of English language learners in basic school settings
  • To test language minority students for initial identification and redesignation
  • To provide placement information for instructional programs
  • To monitor progress and growth in English language development
  • To provide diagnostic information for program planning

Administration

  • Group administered (paper or online)
  • Paper administration guided by administration script; online administration by the computer
  • Paced appropriately to respect English language learner's need to determine their own reading speed
