LEADERSHIP TEAM
	Mark Espinola CEO Mark Espinola joined Ballard & Tighe as CEO on August 27, 2007 after having served as division president of Scantron Corporation, a worldwide leader in the educational testing and assessment market. Mr. Espinola holds an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a B.A. in business and economics from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
	Dr. Sari Luoma Vice President, Assessment Dr. Sari Luoma joined Ballard & Tighe as Vice President of Assessment in 2003. She leads our efforts in the design and direction of the company’s state and district standardized testing initiatives. Dr. Luoma is a frequent speaker and author of Assessing Speaking published by Cambridge University Press. Sari holds a Ph.D. and Licentiate in applied linguistics, and a M.A. and B.A. in language arts and education from the University of Jyväskylä, Finland.
	Fred Tan Vice President, Information Technology Fred joined Ballard & Tighe in 1997. Prior to Ballard & Tighe, he was a management consultant for San-ko do Brazil Ltd. and a business system analyst for Chubb Life America Insurance Co. Fred has a B.S. in business administration with a dual major in management information systems and operations management from the University of Arizona.
BOARD OF DIRECTORS
	Dorothy Roberts Chairperson of the Board Dorothy has owned Ballard & Tighe since 1989. She served as the company’s CEO from 1989 to 2007. Under Dorothy’s leadership, the company has become a recognized leader and innovator in developing English as a second language (ESL) and bilingual instructional and assessment materials for the K-12 market. Prior to Ballard & Tighe, Ms. Roberts was the Executive Director of Business Operations for California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. Dorothy serves as a board member of various non-profits. She holds a M.S. and B.S. in business administration from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona.
	Kent Roberts Board Member Kent has 40 years of experience in the fields of financial management and real estate investment. Mr. Roberts has been involved in numerous real estate projects including commercial, industrial, hotels, and several redevelopment sites. Since Kent and Dorothy Roberts’ purchase of Ballard & Tighe, Kent has been responsible for the financial oversight and long-range strategic planning of the company. As a third generation businessman in La Habra, Mr. Roberts has been actively involved in the community for the past 35 years. Mr. Roberts served five years (1981-1986) on the La Habra City Council. He is a Past President of La Habra Chamber of Commerce, the La Habra Noon Lions, and La Habra Rotary. He is a Past President and current board member of La Habra Boys & Girls Club, Friends of La Habra Children’s Museum, and the Bighorn Institute.
