Delivering the Lesson

5. Each lesson concludes with an Involving Family activity that students complete at home with the help of a family member. In our sample lesson, students bring home Activity Sheet 2 and mark which vehicles a family member has traveled in.

NOTE: You may find that some students do not have family members who speak English. In this case, allow students to conduct the Involving Family activities in their primary language. What’s most important is that family members are involved in the student’s learning.

6. The key chapter objectives for the lesson are listed in the Observing Student Progress section to provide an easy way to track student progress. The objectives listed here correspond to the objectives in the Chapter Overview chart at the beginning of the chapter. In our example, the objectives correspond to key objectives 1.1.1–1.1.8.
