Introduction and Objectives
Welcome to the online inservice training for the Carousel of IDEAS, 4th edition program! The goal of this inservice is to familiarize you with the Teacher’s Guide and other Carousel components so that you can implement the program most effectively in your classroom. Before you begin the inservice training, please gather the components you will be using from either Set 1 or Set 2 of the Carousel program. It will be helpful to have these components for reference as you take part in this online inservice. For a full list of components, click here.
Upon successful completion of this inservice, you will be able to:
- articulate the program philosophy and features
- identify and explain the various components of the Carousel program
- use the Teacher’s Guide and other components to deliver effective lessons that meet the needs of your English learners
- assess student progress using the assessment tools provided in the program
- explain the scientific research that supports the Carousel program
This inservice training will take approximately two hours to complete. You do not have to complete the training in one sitting. This training is available to you seven days a week, 24 hours a day, as long as you have access to the Internet. At various points in the training, you will have the option of taking an interactive Quick Quiz to check your learning. And at the end of training, you will take the Final Quiz to assess whether you have mastered the information needed to use the Carousel of IDEAS, 4th edition program effectively. If you score at least 80% on the Final Quiz, you will be awarded a Certificate of Achievement. You also will have an opportunity to review a completed Final Quiz to check any questions you answered incorrectly. If you do not score at least 80%, you can review the course material again and retake the Final Quiz.
